Who we are

¡Venga, va!

Have you ever heard of this expression? ¡Venga, va! means a lot for spaniards. These two words can be used in several situations. We use it when we want to encourage someone to do something, when we want to conclude a conversation or a meeting to move on, when we need someone to hurry up or when we want them not to give up.  This fantastic expression is full of energy, good vibes and love. And this is exactly what Marta and Beatriz, the Spanish teachers that once decided to found this school, convey in their class.

Venga, va, meet our teachers. You will love them!

Marta

Teacher & Co-founder

Hello, little human who wants to learn Spanish! I’m Marta, a Spanish teacher and co-founder of ¡Venga, va! Spanish School. I graduated in Hispanic Philology and I have a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish and Catalan as Second Languages. I am half Catalan, from Barcelona and half Andalusian, from Granada. I have been teaching Spanish for more than six years and I love that my students come to class with a big smile and eager to learn. My classes are very fun, I like to generate an environment of motivation and freedom so that we all feel that we are learning while we laugh.

A restaurant in Barcelona: It’s hard to choose, here you eat great. To eat some tapas Barravas, Gracia.

My favorite corner of Barcelona: The Cactus garden (jardines de Mossèn Costa y Llobera)  I like to go there to disconnect.

A song: Felicidad, by La Cabra Mecánica

A series: Old one Compañeros, modern one Vis a Vis

A book: Seda, by Alessandro Baricco

A Spanish film: La isla mínima and Celda 211

Something that bothers me is… hypocrisy.

Beatriz

Teacher & co-founder

Hi there! I’m Beatriz, Spanish teacher and co-founder of ¡Venga, va! Spanish School. I am an eager and curious person; in addition to specializing in teaching Spanish, I have studied Communication and Tourism, and I speak six languages. I have always loved learning and it is a great satisfaction for me to help other people do it with joy. My classes are full of laughter and stories that have the power to connect people. I am passionate about backpacking, hiking, playing padel and, yes!, eating too. I also enjoy camping and playing board games. So, get ready to have fun while you learn!

A restaurant in Barcelona: El Xampanyet, perfect for some good tapas.

My favorite corner of Barcelona: For me one of the viewpoints on the Rabassada road because there is calm and views of the city and  it brings back good memories.

A song: Ojalá que llueva café, by Juan Luis Guerra

A series: Stranger Things

A book: El guardián invisible, by Dolores Redondo

A Spanish film: El orfanato, by J.A. Bayona.

Something that bothers me is… the lack of civility

Teacher

Hello! I’m Clara and I have been living in Barcelona since September 2023. After finishing my studies in Hispanic Philology in Zaragoza, my hometown, I started my journey as a Spanish as a Foreign Language teacher in the city of Hamburg. My goal in class is to create a safe space where making mistakes and learning is encouraged. We work on all language skills: reading, writing, listening, and, above all: speaking. My experience as a teacher and as a student has taught me that a language is learned by speaking it. Let’s do it from the very beginning! The reality is that learning a language takes time and effort, so here’s a piece of advice: choose a school that suits you and enjoy the process. You will never regret learning Spanish.

A restaurant in Barcelona: Casa Ramón in Sant Antoni.

My favorite corner of Barcelona: I’m sorry, but some secrets must be kept…

A song: Buenos Aires, by Nathy Peluso.

A series: Six feet under

A book: El plan infinito, by Isabel Allende.

A Spanish film: As Bestas

Something that bothers me is… being hungry.

Giulia Spanish

Teacher

Hi! My name is Giulia and I’m really passionate about learning languages (I speak Italian, Spanish, English, German, a bit of Catalan and a bit of Arabic) and I’ve always dreamt about becoming a Spanish teacher.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and a Master’s degree in Hispanic Studies. I’ve been a teacher since July 2022 and I love my job 🙂

If I had to describe my classes, I would say they’re a safe space where everyone is invited to be themselves and let go of the fear of making mistakes. Also, there’s always a good vibe in class so that it’s really easy to make friends and have a good time!

A restaurant in Barcelona: Spaccanapoli, in Born

My favorite corner of Barcelona: Passeig de Sant Joan street in spring

A song: Golden, by Harry Styles

A series: Grey’s Anatomy

A book: For Whom the Bell Tolls, by Ernest Hemingway

A spanish film: Ocho apellidos vascos

Something that bothers me is… rude people and pineapple on pizza.

"I took face-to-face courses in Barcelona from Bea for a month, and even I was surprised at how much my Spanish was improved at the end of the month. Now I'm taking online classes with Marta, and I can say that they both have an amazing energy! You won't be disappointed!"
